Apprenticeship Program

Class runs from 7:30am-2pm (with 30-minute lunch break) or 7:30am-11:30am on the 4-hour weeks. Which day of the week students have class will depend on which year they are in the program. Explore each year focus topics below.

Year 1

Year 1 explores topics such as:

  • Electrical Theory
  • National Electrical Code
  • Residential and Commercial Branch Circuit Wiring
  • Construction Drawings
  • Soft Skills: Communication and Stress Management

Year 2

Year 2 explores topics such as:

  • Intermediate Electrical Theory
  • Residential Services
  • Conduit Labs
  • Commercial Branch Circuits

Year 3

Year 3 explores topics such as:

  • Advanced Electrical Theory
  • Commercial Services
  • National Electrical Code
  • Control Systems (Lab)

Year 4

Year 4 begins to transition away from Apprentice education and move towards Foreman/Journeyman training such as:

  • Advanced National Electrical Code
  • Foreman training
  • Journeyman License prep
  • And More

Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Two week, full-time program to get new students up to speed with operating successfully on a jobsite as an apprentice electrician. All students will start year one with the Pre-Apprenticeship Program to be set up for success when beginning the PowerHouse Apprenticeship Program.

Journeyman Prep Course

Journeyman prep courses (or private study sessions) are offered by appointment at no expense to Magnum Electric employees/apprentices. Apprentices must have a test date scheduled to qualify for this service.

Continued Ed

Monthly Continuing Education courses are offered at the PowerHouse all year for Magnum Electric employees to renew their license without the stress/cost associated with finding a local or online seminar. In-person classes are offered as well as webinar (zoom) live.

ND Licensing Requirements

The North Dakota State Electrical Board requires completion of 8,000 hours experience in electrical wiring, along with 576 hours of training classes in order to pursue licensing as a journeyman electrician.
