Our Director

Christian Opp is the lead director and instructor of the PowerHouse. Working for Magnum Electric as an apprentice electrician back in 2013, he obtained his journeyman license in 2016 and then his master’s license in 2018. He worked as a foreman for commercial/industrial construction and has experience as an electrical contractor for 2.5 years.

He was introduced to the education side of the electrical industry from teaching apprenticeship night classes for the IEC Dakotas, as well as teaching at Mstate in Moorhead for three years. With Master Electrician licenses in both ND and MN, he served as a member of the North Dakota Electrical Board’s, “Education Advisory Committee,” from 2021-2023. Most recently he spearheaded the code classes at Magnum Electric throughout the past year while building the apprenticeship training program for the PowerHouse.

Outside of work, Opp loves to spend time with his wife Lindsay, and their two sons Raiden and Lewyn. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors, gardening and traveling.

Our core values are an important part of defining our brand culture. We aren’t trying to be perfect, but the things we do value are the tools we use to succeed.

  • Reputation – Define expectations and exceed them.
  • Knowledge – Understand the entire process, not just our part.
  • Creativity – Unique perspective and problem solving.
  • Authenticity – Be accountable and be real.
  • Optimism – Have a positive attitude and be part of the solution.

Volunteer Work

We value volunteering as it give us the opportunity to use our specialized skills for the greater good. Volunteering also provides our students the opportunity for skill development, problem-solving, and adapting to diverse environments, which are crucial in the electrical field. Giving back to society while honing our craft reinforces our commitment to service and community welfare. Not only can we enhance the safety and quality of life for others but also showcase the importance of electrical safety and efficiency.
